BEFORE WE BEGIN
Please answer the following questions so we can prepare a preliminary budget estimate and identify the best starting point for your project.
Note: Your responses and the budget range provided are preliminary only, not a final quote. This form is simply to give you a rough idea of what your project may cost.
* Even if you’re unsure, give your best answer with the information you have.
We’ll use this information only to share your estimate and connect with you about your project.
Log Shell Fabrication & Installation: We fabricate and set the reclaimed log shell on
your prepared slab or foundation.
Dry-In Service: Includes log fabrication and installation plus gable framing, roof decking,
exterior doors and windows, chinking and roof system so the building is weather-tight
and ready for interior finishing.
Design Service: We create design plans for the reclaimed shell elements only, which you
can hand off to your architect or engineer for complete build plans.
Project Management: We oversee your project from the planning stage through construction, coordinating with contractors, engineers, and architects. Our role is to align scope, budget, and schedule while keeping the build on track and organized.
Complete Service: Includes the design and pre-construction services as well as log fabrication, installation, and dry-in for full start-to-finish support.
Original Reclaimed Log Structure: If you value an authentic historic cabin reassembled close to its original design, choose this option.
Modified Reclaimed Log Structure: If you value a historic cabin but need it adapted with added features or layout changes, choose this option.
Custom Reclaimed Log Structure: If you value design freedom while still using reclaimed authentic dovetail logs, choose this option.
Please include additional measurements below if decided.
* Because reclaimed wood is unique, the final product may look slightly different than these examples.
Simple: straight forward footprint. Few corners. Light shaping.
Standard: more corners. More fitting. Moderate dovetail work.
Complex: Expanded layout. Many corners. Extensive dovetail cutting and log fitting.
Important Note:
More corners, logs, and dovetail work don’t automatically make a structure stronger, but they do make it more expensive. Each added detail means more timber, more fitting, and more labor. We recommend choosing the level of complexity that matches the look and presence you want to create
On the gable ends, do you want the logs to run all the way to the peak, or would you prefer the upper triangle framed with siding outside and finished with wall cladding inside?
We use this information to evaluate access, terrain, and foundation needs.
Dried-in typically includes wall and ceiling insulation with exterior sheathing as the core service, and can also include roofing, doors, windows, siding, and other elements as needed.
Approximate number and sizes for windows & exterior doors
This number includes all construction costs, not just Three Ten Timber’s services.
I understand that reclaimed timber is a premium option, valued for character and quality rather than cost savings.
This is optional, but sharing photos, sketches, or inspiration images helps us tremendously in preparing your estimate.
How We Work
We design and build reclaimed log structures using historic hand-hewn materials and traditional dovetail joinery. Our process separates what we do, what we manage, and what we don’t, so every client knows exactly where our craftsmanship and coordination begin and end.
What We Can Self-Perform
Fabricate and raise custom reclaimed log structures using historic hand-hewn dovetail logs with traditional joinery.
Create design plans for reclaimed log elements that your architect or engineer can use to produce complete build plans.
Provide pre-construction services to assemble the team, set the budget, and plan scope and schedule.
Supply reclaimed materials for gable siding, roof decking, flooring, and other elements when included in scope.
Build to a weatherproof exterior (Dry-In Service), which can include:
Chinking installation for a tight building envelope
Roof decking installation
Gable end siding installation (when included in scope)
Window and exterior door installation
Flashing, trim, and sealants required for a weather-tight structure
What We Can Manage
Coordinate architects, engineers, and designers to produce full architectural and engineered plan sets.
Oversee permitting, code compliance, and HOA approvals through the appropriate professionals.
Manage subcontractors for excavation, foundation, framing, roofing, and other trades.
Schedule and supervise mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractors.
Handle bid solicitation, procurement, budgeting, and progress tracking throughout the build.
Act as the owner’s representative to ensure quality, communication, and alignment from start to finish.
What We Don’t Self-Perform
Site work such as surveying, soils testing, tree clearing, grading, driveways, or utility trenching.
Excavation, foundation, and concrete.
Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, or low-voltage systems.
Full general contracting or assuming legal responsibility for all trades.
Landscaping, hardscaping, gutters, septic or well systems, and final utility connections.
